"Restore the Gardens"

Popes Museum has been given a spot as a featured destination by the internationally acclaimed museum for their exhibit “Way Out There: The Art of Southern Backroads”, beginning March 2, 2019.  It is an amazing opportunity to re-prime the pump of tourism in the area and keep it going.  Combined with our place on the National Register of Historic Places, Pope’s Museum will be impacting our economy in positive ways.  According to mytravelresearch.com, “Culture and heritage tourists often stay longer and spend a lot more money in general than other tourists do.” Therefore, we must get ready for visitors from the High Museum’s exhibit.

Last year Archway and UGA partnered with us and created professional restoration plans for Pope’s Museum historic garden areas.  There has never been a better time to begin implementing them.  Time is short, and we need your financial support now.  The plans are in place, the people are coming, the provision is needed.  You can make a secure donation through Paypal by clicking the donate button below.

"Bring Four Planes Home"

Oscar Winning Director Jonathan Demme's widow has generously donated "Four Planes in  a Golden Sky" to Popes Museum Preservation Inc.

Our open house raised more than half of the money to pick it up, create a crate, ship and insure it.   The painting was delivered and hung on the walls of Popes Museum in December 2018.  Please help us continue the momemtum of restoring and renovation this National Treasure with Its Roots in Grady County.
